Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 13, 2025. This policy explains what data we collect, what we don't collect, and how we use it.
The short version
Your Excel files are never uploaded to our servers. All file processing happens locally in your browser. We collect only standard, anonymous web analytics data. We serve ads through Google AdSense. That's it.
1. Who we are
MoveToSheets ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at www.movetosheets.com. For questions about this policy, contact us at our contact page.
2. File data — what we do NOT collect
The core converter tool runs entirely in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. When you upload an Excel file:
- The file is read by your browser locally using the JavaScript FileReader API.
- The file contents are parsed in your browser's memory by the SheetJS library.
- The resulting CSV is generated in-browser and downloaded directly to your device.
- At no point is your file, its name, its contents, or any portion of it transmitted to our servers or any third party.
We have no technical capability to access your file data because it never leaves your device.
3. Data we do collect
Web analytics. We use standard web analytics to understand how the site is used. This may include: pages visited, time on site, browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, referring URL, and approximate country (derived from anonymised IP address). This data is aggregate and never linked to an individual.
Contact form submissions. If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, selected subject, and message. This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with third parties.
4. Cookies
We use cookies in the following ways:
- Analytics cookies — set by our analytics provider to count visits and measure traffic patterns.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to serve relevant advertisements. These may be used to build interest profiles across sites. See Google's Privacy Policy and Ad Settings for more information.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings, or by using the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool at optout.networkadvertising.org.
5. Google AdSense
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
We comply with Google AdSense program policies. We do not place ads near content that could confuse users into clicking them accidentally, and all ad units are clearly labelled "Advertisement".
6. Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form only.
7. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or California, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
